75 Bed Elderly Care Unit, St. Camillus Hospital, Limerick

This project involved constructing a 50-bed two-storey ward and a 25-bed single-storey ward at St. Camillus Hospital, Limerick, to enhance elderly residential healthcare in line with National Quality Standards and the Health Act 2007.

The new extension, located at the rear and requiring the demolition of an existing building, underwent initial enabling works to divert underground services.

Due to the site’s complexity and the need to maintain multiple services, construction was phased. The two-storey block was built first to accommodate patients and staff during the demolition.

The foundations featured deep-fill concrete trenches, with a superstructure of load-bearing masonry walls, precast concrete slabs, and some structural steel elements.
