Project Opera

The Project Opera Site, covering approximately 3.7 acres, is located at the northern edge of Limerick’s Georgian Quarter. The plan for Project Opera includes a full redevelopment of the entire city block.

In 2020, PUNCH was engaged by LTT to provide Civil and Structural Engineering services for this remarkable project across multiple phases. The development features a 10,000m2 basement across the site with five new building structures over podium level. The buildings include a new LEED Platinum six-story office building, a 15-storey landmark tower building on Bank Place, a new City Library integrated into the existing historic Georgian Town Hall and a five-story office block connected to the library, all surrounding a new public square designed as a central plaza.

The Opera Site development as a Lighthouse Demonstrator Project for the Circular Built Environment. The work packages will explore circular economy opportunities during the demolition and enabling works (retrospectively), design, pre-construction, construction, and operational phases of the project in close collaboration with the supply chain.

Existing heritage and protected buildings will be restored, while more recent structures and additions to heritage sites will be demolished.

This project is incredibly exciting for both Limerick and PUNCH, focusing on preserving buildings in need of care while also creating new landmark public spaces that will significantly transform the city of Limerick.
